The Coalition for Clean Affordable Energy (CCAE), Santa Fe or Albuquerque, New Mexico is seeking an energetic, organized, manager and leader to serve as Executive Director. CCAE represents 14 organizations with a membership base of 20,000 people.
Renew '09
Tucumcari, NM hosts Renew '09 starting Tuesday, June 23, 2009. Tour the North American Wind Research & Training Center's 1.5 MW Wind Turbine on Tuesday evening starting at 5 pm. Participate in panels on Rural Electric Co-ops, Wind Power and Solar Power, among others on Wednesday. Tucumcari is located 170 miles due east of Albuquerque, along Interstate 40 in a windy part of the state.
Who Is CCAE and What Do We Do?
CCAE is a coalition of 14 environmental, consumer and health groups dedicated to promoting energy efficiency and renewable energy, aka "clean energy." We work to educate the public about clean energy, and we work primarily with policy makers at the Public Regulation Commission to develop and implement policies that will allow our state to take advantage of all the clean energy resources available to us.
Greenhouse Gas Vehicle Emissions Standard
A study by the Environmental Defense Fund titled Adoption of California Greenhouse Gas Vehicle Emissions Standards in New Mexico Saves Drivers Money and Reduces Air Pollution shows drivers will save a significant amount and low income drivers will particularly benefit. Delaying the implementation will be costly for drivers.
2009 Legislative Priorities
The following are the CCAE legislative priorities for the 2009 legislative session. Fact sheets can be found at the links.
- HB 732 - Low Income Energy Utility Fund Distributions. This bill was CCAE's top priority for 2009. Unfortunately it did not pass, in part because of concerns about the recurring budget impact. - Rep. B. Lujan, STALLED IN SENATE FINANCE
